Oz-some Show: Video of Sydney's spectacular New Year fireworks

Best of 2010 REMIX!

Mani Shankar Aiyer lives in Safdarjung Lane. The road is one of umpteen in Lutyens’Delhi stretches where perfectly fine dividers/pavements have been dug up and redone - or are in the process – in the name of the Commonwealth Games.

One of the million instances where public money is being strewn around – needless to say most of them making their way somehow or the other to the pockets of politicians and bureaucrats – for making Delhi Games ready. If Aiyer has the good sense - equal chances though that it is the propensity and love to shock - to feel outraged by what he sees every day as he leaves his home – and bode ill for the Games he needs to be applauded and supported.

The cost esacalations have been presposterous. Delhi government alone has seen a more than 1000% jump in expenses from the initial estimates. Three years back, the government’s top officials sais the city would spend Rs 770 crore on the Games. Today it stands at Rs 11,000 crore and counting, most of it money that could have been far better spent elsewhere.

Sample the costs of just two Games projects. Barapullah Nullah Road, probably the single most important Games project and one that has been written about the most thanks to the interminable delays is costing Rs 660 crore and has missed deadline after deadline since the beginning of the year. The Ring Road bye-pass projects costs Rs 650 crore. Both roads are just 5-5.5 Km in length.

And in the former Delhi government is locked in a nasty wrangle with the contractors who have reportedly been asking for a hike given that they actually used launchers to build a bridge and did not leave just the pillars standing! Contractors who till last year had the staunchest possible backing of the political leadership.

It does not of course end with digging up dividers and building prohibitively expensive elevated roads. Look at the freshly minted CP mess and among the innumerable ditches there would be three which have been dug up for the new subways of which the original ambition was to construct 8. The work cannot be finished before the Games under any circumstances.

So what is obviously going to happen is that before the event, the ditches will be covered up and after it re-dug. At public expense.

This whole game should have been built some where near a city which is not so well developed i.e like patna, ranch, somewhere in orissa, then it would have pushed the growth of the city and the state.May be it would have changed the wheels of fortune for that state and city.It would have been fanatabulous.Delhi is so crowded even now that i think what would happen when so much people would come and fill the city...!!!!!

human mind

The human mind is divided into two parts: the conscious and the unconscious. These are integral parts of every individual mind, whether male or female. The conscious mind deals with everything that is within the realm of our awareness, whereas the unconscious mind deals with all those thoughts that the individual is unaware of but which influence his behaviour. Our body is a highly complex organism. There are numerous functions going on at all times in our bodies like seeing, hearing, digestion, respiration and different kinds of movements. Almost all these functions are governed by the unconscious mind. Little effort is required on the part of our consciousness for the smooth functioning of these bodily requirements. The conscious mind has unlimited capacity for thinking and analysing facts. But if everything is placed in charge of the unconscious mind, according to the divine plan of creation, what is the role of the conscious mind? It is to seek out the truth. The Creator has made the conscious mind free to involve itself solely in the great quest for truth. To search for truth is our greatest task. What is truth? Truth is, in other words, the reality of life. We must try to know the secret of life, its purpose and goal, to know what is right and wrong, what are the minus and plus points, what is negative and positive thinking, what is good for the individual and for society. The answers to these questions are not written on any mountainside. It is up to us to discover the truth. Knowledge of truth is so important that the Creator has consigned our bodily affairs to the unconscious mind. People frequently live in a state of frustration. And great men are no exception. They live frustrated lives and they die frustrated. Tension and stress are ubiquitous. The reason lies in people’s failure to find the truth. Everyone is a seeker by birth, but everyone lives his life without knowing what the real purpose of life is. Due to this aimlessness, people are living in a state of confusion. They speak and write, but without clarity. They live lives fraught with contradictions. They yearn to find something but without knowing what that something is. A tension-free mind is one that can function positively despite contradiction. People work, but without job satisfaction. People run after money, but without experiencing inner satisfaction. People have adopted the formula: Enjoy life! But they don’t know what life is and what its real enjoyment is. It is a paradoxical situation and everyone is living in this state of self-contradiction. It is a self-created problem. When the Creator has given you a mind and made you free to use your mind, you should make use of this opportunity. You have to activate your thinking capacity. You have to discover the reality. You have to read what is hidden in nature in an unwritten form. That is the only way to extricate yourself from this psychological chaos. The consciousness of truth is interwoven in your nature; it is very easy, therefore, to discover the truth. The only condition is to shun distraction, to follow the well-known principle: simple living, high thinking. If you want to save yourself from going astray, activate your thinking faculty. Think and you will surely reach the gates of truth.

those who dig pots for others fall into it themselves.this is the case as per sharad pawar and modi are concerned.....modi did all the wrong things the right way to take the centre stage in IPL....HE was to get the judgement for all the wrong deeds but ...pawaar took it to the next level by not supporting modi, his one time most admirable and talked about knight ....Rather he unceremoniously bed him a bye..this send a furor to modi's camp and he started to unveil the dark deeds this knight and his master did ....leading to colaateral damage for pawar and family.
It is measure of the extent to which NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s sway over the Indian cricket establishment has weakened that his one-time protege, BCCI president Shashank Manohar, on Saturday lashed out at suspended IPL commissioner Lalit Modi unmindful of the collateral damage he was doing to Pawar. The CITY CORPORATION ,the company which is controlled by pawaars family was also engaged in the bidding of pune team is the main the main culprit..well i hope it will be a long battle and the Indian people will get to see a lot more about these deeds in the near future......

neways love you all! keep blogging!!keep posting!!!and stay healthy!!!!
yours,

Back to where i started

some one has rightly said that history repeats it self and i am the latest example,i think....back to pune ....during these days of my relocation i went each every pressure u can think of....mental ,physical and obviously the root of all these material....sometimes the later overshadows the other two in a big manner. As for me everything had the same equal bend of worry. For me 'Money in need is money indeed' .Money loses all its charm if it doesn't comes in use at the right time and in right proportion.....
I have taken this decision of returning to pune because i want to prove myself that i have the guts to follow my dreams and not that its just a day dreaming .I don't say that i take right decisions every time but its my duty rather to prove that the decision taken was right.
The last days in gurgaon were bad on one side but there was always a joy of returning to my place...pune....At last everything felt at the right place and at the right time and i am now in pune.
Though as it may seem weird to some that i have left a job and started searching another job rather than being in it and then search.....but to those who know the reasons and are close to me know that it was decision decision out of choice and not because i didn't had one.
Playing safe is one thing but you don't have the joy that you enjoy when you risk everything you have .Because its like saving your ass or to survive and
When you fight for survival - you fight the strongest. It is the strength of conviction that shall destroy any adverse percolation.
In my case i have risked everything i had to fight against one thing......the fear of not proving to me that i can achieve success even without anyone's support or help.
Well its gating late at night or rather sleepy at eyes.
so,its time to get the eyes wide shut.........gd nt
my love as always and more
